So, non-profits do depend upon gifts, but at the same time they are subject to many rules. this is because most non-profits don’t run on multiple small donations, but large grants (thousands to millions) from the government of organizations like the Gates foundation (the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation…the founder of Microsoft is one in our area). So are non-profits better as businesses in the helping professions? What about for-profit healthcare companies? What are the pros and cons of each approach? Does anyone have any experience with ethical issues in either of these areas?
